Dear Parents/Guardians,
The term of office for the current Board of Management of St Marks will expire on the 30th November 2023. We are now in the process of electing two parent nominees, one mother and one father, to serve on the new board which will take up office on the 1st December 2023. This is a role which involves a reasonable commitment of time, effort and interest in educational issues. The term of office for a Board of Management is 4 years. The Board consists of eight members, made up as follows:
- 2 Patron nominees
- 2 Parents of children in the school, elected by the parents.
- The Principal of the school
- A teacher nominee, elected by the teaching staff
- 2 Community nominees
The main function of the Board of Management is to manage the school on behalf of the patron and for the benefit of the students. The Board of Management provides leadership and ensures effective management of the school within an agreed school budget and a framework of accountability.
The elected parents' nominees, do not act in a representative role. The Board acts as one unit in terms of its function in addressing the business of the school.
If you are interested in putting your name forward for this role then please advise the school either by phone (045-432466) or by email (office@stmarksnewbridge.com). The school will then obtain your consent for the circulation of your name and the class attended by your child to all other parents in the school which are required to be on the election ballot.
If you have any questions on any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Kind regards
Ross Dignam
Secretary to the Board of Management
